If you’re planning a trip to Croatia, visiting the Plitvice Lakes is an absolute must-do activity. It’s important to remember that you’re in charge of your day’s activities, which means you can decide when to start and how much time you want to spend at the park before continuing on to your final destination in Zadar. We provide safe, reliable, and professional Croatia private transfers with local English-speaking drivers. Upon arrival at the National Park, you have the option to enhance your experience with a guided tour. Your adventure begins with a private pickup at your hotel or accommodation in Zagreb. After a scenic one-hour drive, we reach the charming village of Rastoke (Optional 1-hour stop – additional €25). It’s the perfect spot for a coffee break before continuing our journey from Zagreb to Zadar via Plitvice Lakes. Upon arrival at the National Park, your driver will drop you off at the entrance. If you’ve opted for a local guide, you will meet them here to begin your 3-4 hour exploration of the waterfalls. You will have ample time for all activities before we resume our private transfer to Zadar.
This service is available year-round. While winter snow can occasionally make mountain roads challenging, the drive to the coast remains a beautiful experience, taking you through the heart of the stunning Dalmatian countryside.
Meet your local guide in the park (if you choose to have one) and start with a pleasant train ride around the Upper Lakes. Your licensed guide is a professional with more than 10 years of experience. With our guide in the lead, we start with our tour by exploring the series of twelve interconnected lakes called the Upper Lakes (Gornja Jezera). The lakes also change color depending on the mineral composition of the water and the microorganisms living in them. This process ensures that the Plitvice Lakes are continually evolving. We’ll continue making our way through the fascinating landscape of the park until we reach the boat that will transport us to the Lower Lakes (Donja Jezera).
The Lower Plitvice Lakes system is formed in the canyon constructed of permeable limestone. The highest rocks in the canyon are about 40 meters. The travertine cascade formed between Kaluđerovac and Novakovica brod lake is the visitors’ path leading down from the NP Entrance 1 towards the Veliki Slap waterfall and then further on around the Lower Lakes upstream in the direction of the Kozjak Lake. The climax of the Plitvice tour is undoubtedly the Great Waterfall (Veliki Slap), also known as the tallest waterfall in Croatia.
You can enjoy a “traditional tasting menu” at your own expense while visiting the Museum of Bura Wind. Located in the heart of Zadar’s hinterland, the Gastro Museum Bura offers an unforgettable journey through the region’s history, culture, and flavors. Next to an old bauxite mine, guests can partake in a 60-minute guided tour exploring authentic local specialties. This includes delicacies such as prosciutto, pancetta, Pag cheese, wine, brandy, and liqueurs. After a light lunch, we will continue our trip towards Zadar, where we expect to arrive by 4:00 pm. The price of tasting menu is additional 55 EUR per person.
