You can relax on a private boat and savor some of the finest oysters in Croatia. Then, you’ll be inspired by the timeless stories of Croatian winemakers Grgurević and Miloš. You’ll visit their family house and winery, meet the owners, and listen to their firsthand accounts of winemaking. This tour is definitely not to be missed!
Only an hour’s drive from Dubrovnik lies the Pelješac peninsula, also known as the “Croatian Wine Empire”. This tour offers stunning views and a chance to taste the best local wines. The tour begins in the morning, with your driver meeting you at your hotel or private accommodation in Dubrovnik. We will drive northwest along the Adriatic coast, passing by the villages of Orašac, Trsteno and Elaphiti islands along the way. During the drive, our knowledgeable driver will share with you the history, culture, and cuisine of the area. Upon arrival in Ston, your driver will drop you off at the town entrance. Ston is famous for having the longest stone wall in Europe (5.5 km), salt farming, and oyster breeding farms that date back to the Roman times. You will have the opportunity to see the ancient salt pans that were used during the Dubrovnik Republic, where salt is still produced to this day.
We continue our tour to the village of Mali Ston, where we will meet our friend and fisherman Dubo. Indeed, you can relax on a private boat and enjoy the finest oysters in Croatia. A short drive from Ston, you will get on a private boat to visit an oyster farm with a small oyster grower and taste oysters pulled straight from the sea for you. They will be matched with homemade wine too. Let your experienced guide immerse you in the history and culture of this area and explain to you about oyster farming in Croatia.
Next, we will take you on a one-hour ride through the wine-growing region of “Dingač”. You will get a great insight into the local life and traditions from your driver. We will drive through the spectacular scenery of vineyards, olive orchards, valleys, and slopes. The trip’s highlight is a visit to a local winery, “Grgurević”. The production of grapes and wine in Janjina has been a family tradition for many generations. Production is based on the indigenous variety of Plavac Mali. In the local winery, we will taste 4 different wines (white, orange, rose & red wine) and domestic delicacies such as; Dalmatian smoked ham, cheese, family produced domestic olive oil & bread. Vineyard tour with the winery owner itself!
Finally, you will have free time for lunch in one of the local restaurants (at your own expense). At the seaside promenade in Mali Ston, in the medieval salt storage room, there is a restaurant called “Bota Šare”. Homemade bread, grilled fish, stews, risottos & homemade desserts of this region will impress you and return to the past glorious times of this region. The drive back to Dubrovnik is on local roads seeing the charming Pelješac countryside. We can guarantee return to Dubrovnik smiling and happy!
