We will arrive at the island of Hvar at 10:00 am and begin our panoramic drive towards Hvar town with our driver guide for the Hvar tour. During the tour, we will visit the Lavender fields around the village of Brusje, which are located high up on the old road to Stari Grad. Did you know that the cultivation of lavender on Hvar began in 1930? Initially, one person had planted a few lavenders in Velo Grablje, but the other villagers had laughed at the idea. However, after 20 years, the inhabitants of Velo Grablje became successful in cultivating lavender and called themselves a village of billionaires. By 1974, Hvar had become the eighth-largest lavender producer in the world. During our tour, we will walk through the Lavender fields and enjoy the magnificent color and hypnotic qualities of this beautiful plant.
We will continue our tour to Hvar town and visit the Hvar Fortica, also known as Španjola, which was built during the Venetian rule in the early 16th century and later reconstructed in 1579. The fort currently houses a collection of amphorae and other exhibits from ancient times and the Middle Ages. In addition to admiring its exquisite architecture, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the city of Hvar, its surroundings, and the Pakleni islands.
Our tour will take us to meet the renowned Croatian winemaker, Duboković. We will have the pleasure of meeting the owner and listening to stories from the first-hand winemaker. Duboković’s vineyards are located on Hvar, one of the warmest and sunniest islands of the Adriatic. The vineyards spread over the micro-localities of Sveti Nikola and Medvid bod. The soil structure ranges from limestone pebbles, white sand to a small percentage of red soil. The indigenous varieties such as Mali Plavac, Drnekusa, Parac, Kuc, Bogdanusa, and Marastina thrive on this ideal nutrition source. They also produce a wide range of varietal and aromatized olive oils in addition to the wines. The price of wine tasting is additional 50 EUR per person.
