The Upper Lakes

The travertine cascade formed between Kaluđerovac and Novakovica brod lake is visitors’ path leading down from the NP Entrance 1 towards the Veliki Slap waterfall and then further on around the Lower Lakes upstream in the direction of the Kozjak Lake. The climax of the Plitvice tour is undoubtedly the Great Waterfall (Veliki Slap), which is also known as the tallest waterfall in Croatia.

The highest waterfall in the Plitvice National Park is Veliki Slap – the Great Waterfall. Witness the magnificence of the 78 meters situated at the very end of the National Park. The place where the river Plitvice thunders, in a single drop in the river Korana. The waterfall gets completely frozen in the winter forming a lovely giant ice sculpture – a must-see!
